Translations
Apart from your storefront’s main menus and functionalities, you can translate a series of important information from your store’s primary language to the default languages of your customers, including:
- Product names and descriptions
- Product categories and descriptions
- Brand names and descriptions
- News
- Pages
- Company description
This article will walk you through how to use this feature to make the most of your B2B Wave B2B eCommerce platform.
NOTE: Remember that you should contact our support team to enable this functionality for your account.
Translating Products and Product Descriptions Manually
You can create translations for your products and their descriptions if you have customers in different countries using different languages. To do so, follow these steps:
Step 1. Go to Products >Products, then click on the product to which you want to add a translation.
Step 2. Go to the “Product” tab. Next, click “Translate” under the product name on the “Editing product” page.
Step 3. Type in the product’s translation in the relevant field on the pop-up window, and click “Close” to save it. You will encounter a field per language if you have translations in multiple languages.
NOTE: Clicking “Copy from source translation” will fill the translation area with the original text.
Step 4. Click “Translate” under the product description and fill in the necessary information in the appropriate field on the pop-up window that opens. Then, click “Close” and “Save” to store it.
Once you create product translations, customers will see products and their descriptions in their default language upon logging in to your store. In the example below, Mad Style is a customer whose default language is Italian. When Mad Style logs into Wholesale Demo & Co’s store, they will see the appropriate translation, if available.
Translating Products and Product Descriptions In Bulk
You can mass import product and description translations. Let’s see how you can do this:
Step 1. Go to Products >Export, make your selections, and click “Export” to download your product list.
Step 2. Open the spreadsheet you’ve downloaded, and look for the “product_name” column. Next to it, you’ll find another column called “product_name_[language abbreviation].” In this respect, if you have customers whose default language is Italian, this column’s name will be “product_name_it.” If you have customers whose default language is French, it will be “product_name_fr_,” and so on. Type in the product’s name in the appropriate language. Leave the cell blank if you do not want to translate the product’s name.
Step 3. Now move to the “product_desc_[language abbreviation]” column and add the description in the appropriate language if you wish to translate it. Otherwise, leave the cell blank. Click “Save” to store your changes.
Step 4. Go to Products >Import, click “Choose File” to upload your file, and then “Import” to automatically add or update product names and descriptions. Remember that your file should be in .xlsx format.
