Category Discounts
You can set discounts for specific product categories or subcategories to promote their products. Below you can find out how to set product category discounts through your B2B Wave eCommerce platform.
Creating Discounts for Product Categories
Step 1. Go to Product Categories on your Admin Panel and select the category or subcategory to which you want to apply a discount. Remember that you can also set discounts for specific subcategories by selecting the particular subcategory.
Step 2. Look for the “Discount” field on the “Category” tab on the page that opens, and enter the percentage you want to set for the category. Importantly, if this is a parent category and you want the discount to apply to its subcategories, check the “Update discount in subcategories too” option to update the pricing for all products under the parent category. Once you are done, click “Save.”
NOTE: Category and subcategories discounts overrule any reductions you have set for certain products that belong to them.
Setting Quantity Discounts for Product Categories
You can also set quantity-related discounts for product categories and subcategories. Let’s see how you can do this.
Step 1. Contact our support team to enable the quantity discounts feature for your account.
Step 2. Go to Product Categories on your Admin Panel and select the category or subcategory to which you want to apply a discount.
Step 3. On the “Edit category” and go to the “Quantity discounts” tab. Then, click “+,” fill in the necessary information, and click “Save.”
Specifically:
Price List | Select the price list you want to apply the discount from the drop-down menu |
From quantity | Enter the minimum order quantity customers must order for the discount to apply. Remember that category discounts will apply for product orders including more than one product belonging to the same category as long as the total ordered quantity fulfills the minimum threshold you’ve defined here. For example, Wholesale Demo offers a 15% discount for all products under their Women/Knits subcategory if customers purchase at least ten (10) items from it. Let’s say a customer orders five (5) Mustard Sweaters and five (5) Coffee and Cream Sweaters. In this case, the customer will enjoy a 15% discount on their ordered products |
Discount percentage | Add the reduction percentage you want to apply, if applicable. Note that this discount will be calculated on the item’s original price fulfilling the minimum quantity you have set |
Discount amount | Insert a fixed discount amount, if applicable. Note that this amount will be deducted from the item’s original price for all orders fulfilling the minimum quantity you have set. In the example below, Wholesale Demo offers the Adirondack Blanket - Seafoam Bliss blanket at a $128 price point in their Basic Price List (USD). Then, they applied a $10 discount for all orders with a minimum quantity of five (5) items for all products under the Blankets category Let’s say a customer assigned to this list orders five of these blankets. Based on this, they will pay $590 (before taxes), that is, $118 for each item multiplied by the ordered quantity (5) |
