Credit Limit
On B2B Wave, you can enable credit limits for your big or loyal customers, allowing them to place an order and pay you later. Let’s look at how you activate this payment option for your customers:
Step 1. Go to Settings >Payment options and click “Credit.”
Step 2. On the page that opens, check the “Active” box and click “Save” to enable it for your customers. Remember to check “Private” to make the credit limit payment option available only to select customers. In any case, customers can always pay using credit only if you assign them this payment option.
NOTE: If you have created an account on B2B Wave before March 15, 2023, please get in touch with our support team to enable the credit limit option to your account.
Enabling and Setting Credit Limits for Customers Manually
Once you’ve activated credit limits for your B2B portal, you can assign this payment option to customers. To do so, follow these steps:
Step 1. Go to the Customers menu on your Admin Panel and click on the customer you want to allow to place orders on credit.
Step 2. Look for the “Payment options” tab on the “Editing customer” page. Then, check the “Credit” option.
Step 3. Add the limit in the “Credit amount” tab and click “Save.” Once you assign this payment option to a customer, the specific client and their sub-users can place orders up to the credit amount you have set. Significantly, customer credit balance will change when they place orders using the “Credit” or any other non-card transaction (e.g., bank transfer) as their preferred payment option when submitting an order.
In addition, you can monitor orders paid on credit through the Orders menu. Remember that credited orders’ unpaid amount will show under the “Total Quantity” column on the orders page.
Importantly, customers can use their credit limit, repay it and use it again. To renew their credit, go to the Orders menu and click on the appropriate order. Then, look for the “Customer Notes” section and check the “Is paid?” box in the “Payment option” row.
NOTE: Customers can only use their credit limit to pay for the total amount of an order. As such, they cannot split an order’s payment between two different methods (e.g., credit limit and bank/wire transfer).
In the example below, Wholesale Demo & Co have set a credit amount of $100 for their customer Hulk Coffee Roasters. The latter places an order of $40 and chooses to use their credit line.
Now, Hulk Coffee Roasters orders again from Wholesale Demo & Co but still needs to pay the previous order. However, when they place the order, they can see the credit available on their account, which in this case, would be $60.
