MCP Server

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, a standard that allows AI tools to connect with external systems and access approved data in a structured way. 

Checking prerequisites

Before you start, follow these steps:

Step 1. Enable the MCP Server under Settings > MCP.

Step 2. Make sure that you are able to log in to the admin panel of your B2B Wave store.

Adding and connecting the MCP server

Step 1. In your MCP client (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar), add this server URL: https://mcp.b2bwave.com/v1/mcp. 

Step 2. Once you’re redirected to B2B Wave’s admin login, enter your store’s subdomain or custom domain in the “Subdomain or Custom Domain” field (e.g., demowholesale.b2bwave.com or demowholesale). Then, enter the email and password you use for your B2B Wave Admin Panel in the respective fields.

Step 3. Click “Sign in & Authorize".

Authorizing MCP Access

After a successful sign-in, the Authorize MCP Access screen lists the permissions granted. By default, this is read-only access to orders, products, prices, and customers. Click “Authorize” to connect.

Note: You can change or turn off this access from the admin API keys screen at a later stage. The key is named after the client (e.g., MCP - Claude) and is owned by the admin who signed in.

Testing the connection

Test a few prompts to ensure the connection is working, like the following:

• Which customer placed the most orders this month? 
• What were the 5 most-ordered products last year in August? 
• How many canceled orders did we have last year?
